Gotta love AA's extended holds...
This comment now has an interesting irony to it ;-)

After spending probably 10 hours on the phone they rerouted at the 11th hour to:
CLE-JFK, AA Y
JFK-SFO, AA F
SFO-HKG, CX F
HKG-BKK, CX J

They literally finished that as I was walking into the airport.
5 minutes later they announced CLE-JFK was canceled and that second I got an automated call from AA that I had been rebooked in Y via ORD.
I don't think I've ever had such bad luck when flying...

Anyway I finally convinced the AAgent to rebook us (only with the help of the AA Plat agent, otherwise the airport agent was refusing to change anything) as:
CLE-DFW, AA F
DFW-SFO, AA F
SFO-HKG, CX F
HKG-BKK, CX J

We checked our bags with literally 25 minutes before boarding, but they held the plane for our bags!
Go AA!

The ticketing agent didn't assign us seats so at the podium I asked for seats and the system spit out Y seats.  When I asked for F the GA said it would be $50.  I pointed out that I was in "paid" F and he apologized.  Later on the plane I heard the GA and FA saying they had never seen anyone actually in paid F on CLE-DFW...I didn't bother correcting them...maybe I'll earn miles  :)

Anyway we're chilling in the AAdmirals club in DFW with a 4 hour connection and then we have a 4.5 hour connection in SFO.

The bummer is not getting to try out BA F and not getting kosher meals on any of the flights. Oh well...
They had better refund the YQ I paid to fly BA!
Now, you will be arriving in HKG on Monday morning instead of Tuesday, right?

Nope, we arrive the exact same time on Tuesday.
6 in one hand, half dozen in the other...

But he will have missed being in SF's 100 miles radius...

About this AA agent in the airport.

If I'd been there...

...You would end up with whatever flight you wanted,+ @ least $1k voucher per passenger.

If agent is the tough type, they will quit their job soon afterwards, if not, they will most likely commit suicide, or placed in an institution for good...

When searching for CX availability online, which site do you use?

Lately, whenever I try searching Qantas.com it always gives me the BA/QF flight options but no CX, even when I know some are available (from speaking to a rep on the phone).

Try www.awardnexus.com which is better, but no way perfect.

What's wrong with asiamiles.com?
BA.com should work also.

Here's the great circle rendition.
At 34,614 traveled miles that would just barely make it in the 25K-35K oneworld award which is 280K miles in First.
is this referring to atw award or an other type of 25K-35k award

Ba.com has not allowed me to search partner availability in over a week. They keep showing an error message. Anyone else have this issue?

Instead of mileage calculated according to the countries you fly between, its calculated by the total distance flown.

Some different rules apply and sometimes get very good value, just look at Dans trip...

What do the taxes and fuel surcharge add up to on such an itinerary?

"Posting from HKG F lounge."

Did you visit the Gate or Pier? Or both (although a bit of walk)?

We were in the Pier F lounge.  Best shower of my life!

We have kosher meals (1 chicken, 1 salmon) ordered in the Wing F lounge before our HKG-YYZ flight.

I wonder how many kosher meals are consumed in the F lounge by passenger who are on a paid ticket.
