How does schwab know what to refund? The withdrawal slips don't mention a fee. In fact, I was getting a better rate with Schwab ATM withdrawal than with a credit Union card I used to use which had no fees.

You mean of course there is none on those ATM's, but many do have 5-10 NIS fee.

I personally haven't received a fee from any Israeli bank using the Schwab card or other cards.

So you mean there is no notice of a fee on the screen? Hmm, why did I keep getting the fee added screen. Maybe because I was using the standalone ATM's not connected to a bank and you went to a bank? That would be good to knowif we could confirm.

I don't know. Neither with Schwab or a Credit Union card.

IIRC even if you get the notice you won't get a fee.  Since in Israel the fee is tacked on by your bank not the ATM even if using a different bank's ATM.  There are a few exceptions but very few and far between where a (usually  a private) ATM will charge a fee.

In my experience, the following banks ATMs don't charge a fee, even if they show a screen warning of a fee.

Leumi
Hapoalim
Disount
Mercantile

I have a Chase account and I called them up to higher  the daily limit and they did it after asking a few security questions. They extended it for 24 hours. Just saying.

Im not talking about israel just was saying that in general its possible to lift a limit if u need to. In israel I almost never take out money cause everything is by cc. When I do its with usaa which has no fees.
