It depends how much you fly and how you value its benefits.

If you have to pay once for overweight, because you don't have a status, will possibly be way more then $140.

No extra weight with a Gold? That's disappointing.

I hope you didn't pay money for the offer from the guy on FT from FoundersClub, you wont get anything.
It has now been officially investigated by the FT mods and it is 100% false, there is absolutely no relationship between Founders and AA.

Not even for EXP.
2x50 and that's it.
OneWorld has no extra baggage benefit, one of the reasons it's light-years behind Star.

If a person will be flying a few times ayr @ $25 a bag and $35 for the 2nd the $140 can be a cheap way around the bag fees, then theres no Close in <21 days fees for award tkting, access to AClubs when flying Intl. Bonus RDMs when on a paid tkt. So id say if a person will be flying AA enough times  the $140 can save them alot more then the $140 and is a very god deal as long as its a legit deal

So if I managed to get 7 free tickets with BA miles on AA (domestically), will the card give me 2 suitcses for each one of us? OR does it have to initiate as AA ticket?

Sorry for being ignorant, but you can buy that status for $140? I searched google and don't see where $140 comes in.

So can it be bought or is it only earned with flying?

As far as I know AA Gold can currently be had by:
-Getting 1 million miles from any source
-Completing a chAAlenge (Paying a fee and flying 5,000 EQP within 90 days)
-Flying 25,000 EQM or EQP or 30 EQS within 1 year

I got gold on a chAAlenge back on a 2006 mileage run before there was a fee for it and hit MM in 2007.

AA Plat can currently be had by:
-Getting 2 million miles from any source
-Completing a chAAlenge (Paying a fee and flying 10,000 EQP within 90 days)
-Flying 50,000 EQM or EQP or 60 EQS within 1 year

AA EXP can only be had by flying 100,000 EQM or EQP or 100 EQS within 1 year.

I wish Id be back to AA if this is true, but Im sure you meant to say 100,000 EQMs and yes only by BIS (seating in a seat can it be achieved)
