How do calculate a percentage.
Example if I know an airline ticket for 4 passenger  ( 2 adt, 1 child, 1 inf) cost $5000 and now I want to divide the adt by 35%, the child by 20% and the inf 10%. What would be the formula in Excel?

Multiply (*) by percent of 1, not divide (/).

=5000*0.35
(*0.2, *0.1 for the others)

If you have the 5000 in a cell, you can reference the cell instead of inputting the number =A1*0.35 ).

Or =5000*35% if optics matter.

Ok but how would get Excel to multiply 35% twice, 20 % once & 10% from the same number and list there values separably?

In cell A1 enter 5000
In cell A2 enter =A1*35%
In cell A3 enter =A1*35%
In cell A4 enter =A1*20%
and so on.

If you need this on a regular basis for different ticket prices, but the Adult, Child, and Infant % stays the same I'd go with a Lookup or Vlookup table.

Once I figure everything Excel can do,
I am actually thinking of creating a customized program with all the travel related calculations I need.

If you need someone to do it for you, feel free to reach out to me. I do VBA automation (along with simpler functions and formulas), as a side gig when I have too much time on my hands ::)

can you recommend a good class that teaches vba (not just watch YouTube videos etc.) ? I took Kyle pew’s class on udemy.com but the vba was less focused on vs the reg excel course.

I'm self-taught but I know there are a few VBA for Dummies books out there if that's your style.

+1
Also - many years ago I took some courses from http://599cd.com/. It seems like they have VBA courses now. I don't know if they are current but if they are they are probably a good thing to try.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Is there a way to use ctrl f, on multiple open sheets?
If I don't know which sheet the information is in

I'm assuming you mean workbooks (to search multiple worksheets within the same workbook just click on Options and select Workbook instead of Sheet).
There's no built in excel functionality to search across multiple workbooks so assuming you don't want to go the VBA route, you can search the folder instead of the file. This will isolate the file containing your desired text and while it won't give you the cell location you can then search within that particular Workbook for the cells containing the data desired.

On a couple of files the save box shows when I close the file even if no changes were made.
I can open and close right away and it will ask to save instead of closing right away. Any ideas?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

It only happens to specific files? Maybe there's a function like current time that reruns every time it's opened.

It is a formula that uses current date that is the issue. If I delete them it will save without asking.
Here is the odd part. This only started to happen after I moved everything over to my new computer. The same file on my old computer will save without asking if no changes are made.
Any way to fix this?
Old computer uses Office Pro 2016
New computer uses Office Pro Plus 2016
ETA: I start a new file and put =TODAY() in the first cell. If I open and close it will ask to save instead of closing right away.

Not onedrive as that was uninstalled. How would I check for autosave? There are files without using the date that work fine.

I have an icon in the quick access toolbar, but I use 365 with Onedrive. maybe autosave will help.

I need to be on top of multiple legal entities, each of which has its own quirks as far as filing deadlines, etc.
there's expensive Entity Management System software out there, but there's got to be an easy way in excel or access to do this.
Anyone have ideas?
