Uh huh. The only sheet that was left was the one with a small amount of data. There goes the deadline.

Any recommendations for tutorials on excel to get from raw beginner-to-intermediate level of proficiency. Thanks.

(I know there are many out there, looking for assistance with selecting a good one).

Yea... I just dragged it from Downloads to the desktop. Poof.
I'm confused. Was it only dragging, or was it saving to CSV?

(Perhaps as a last ditch, try regular recovery/undelete software like Recuva and TestDisk.)

Like in most things... Lynda/LinkedIn Learning's Essential Training course is a great place to start.

That would be the Excel 2019 Essential Training from Dennis Taylor.

While it was open (for a few days), it was saving as a CSV. In order to move it, it needed to be closed. It was dragged from an open folder onto the desktop. Once it was reopened, only the last open page was there. Apparently, a CSV file will save multiple sheets as long as the file is open. But once it is closed, it only saves the last open sheet.

It was "gone" as soon as you clicked save the first time as a csv, you just didn't know it yet. Moving it had nothing to do with it. Any formats are also lost in a csv file.

Did you not get this warning the first time you hit save?

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

I don't believe I got that pop up. The account is linked to Onedrive, but it wasn't signed in. Don't know if that affected which warnings pop up.

The popup is not related to onedrive
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I want to have a shape that uses a macro when clicked to copy the values of multiple cells to other cells. (Ie. Cell a,b,c gets copied over to cells d,e,f respectively.) Sort of like a submit button that I will then use the data from cells d,e, and f to do other things.

Is there a way to do that?

Certainly possible with a bit of coding, check out this guide:
https://www.teachexcel.com/excel-tutorial/input-form-to-get-data-and-store-it-in-another-tab-in-excel_1570.html

(As an alternative - depending on the use case, if the input is done by other people and can be done online - is to use a real Form like https://forms.office.com/ or https://www.google.com/forms/about/)

I searched for the word help thread, and couldn't find it, so I'm posting here.

please help if you can, thank you.

Im trying to add a background picture to word, the sole purpose of adding the picture is so that I can see where to add content over the picture.
I dont want that when i print, it should print the picture too, just the words. I already have paper with that background, so i only need the words.
Im guessing it has something to do with templates, but have no experience there.

You can open a thread... it doesn't bite...

A template is if you need that same background again and again and don't want to need to every time.

But do you already have a way to add it and not print it?

If you just add the picture, it will be difficult to write over it. The best way for this is to add it in the Header.

I just don't know of a normal way to make it not print.

Insert the background picture set it to be behind text then insert text boxes over wherever you want to type then delete the original picture.

There is no layers in word. But a workaround is to have 2 pictures one with the background you want to print and one with the markings. Just send to back the one you don't want shown. (This avoids having to delete the picture so you can reuse it.)

When I send to back do I still see it? It just doesn't print?
Why do I need to have 2 pictures, why not just the 1 background and keep it always in the back?

The point was to have an image of a plain white rectangle which can go in front of the real image when you don't want to see (print) it.

Multiple layers aren't needed. I'm talking about this thingy
