Thansk. For a domestic United flight is it smarter to use Lufthansa or Singapore miles?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

If united showing availability in saver awards that means Y?

Assuming you're looking at regular coach award space and not just expanded, yes.

By expanded you mean with Chase United card?

1)Can you marry segments with different airlines Example: Jfk-FRA with Singapore and FRA-JNB thru LH or has to be same airline?

2) If waitlisted does that mean usually a good chance and try calling to push thru?

3) rep told me I can waist for 2 passengers only 1 ?

+1. Was waitlisted and then confirmed for 2ppl.  I was waitlisted on a better route though that never went through.  I'd for sure have something else booked.  They are not like other airlines and don't open all space up last minute...

Is it true that singapore airlines charges extra to book on united if it's longer than a 4hr stopover?

Yes, $100. AFAIK it's on any airline, not just United.

-.5  in the us more than 4 hours is considered a stopover as opposed to everywhere else in the world where only over 24 hours is considered a stopover
