EK has good ones?

And while we're talking 5th Freedom fantasies, why not have GA inaugurate a flight to NYC (alternating schedule between CGK and DPS) with a stop in TLV, and have them offer those as 5th Freedom too. Will definitely help when they run one of those specials that requires showing up at their ticket office to have it issued.

Yeah. File that one under 5th Freedom fantasies. Along with QR, EY, and EK.
Dumb comparison. SQ is legally allowed to fly into TLV. The 3 you mentioned are NOT. The issue of SQ flying a fifth freedom TLV to NYC, is that whatever is left of Israels flagship national carrier will crumble..... Maybe if they're as persuasive as Air India...

Maybe Singapore law doesn't bar them from flying into TLV, but I've spoken to someone who lives in Singapore, and he told me that the reason it's not likely to happen is that they wouldn't do something like this without the approval of the Malaysians.

OTOH, even if SQ were to fly to TLV, the likelihood of them doing a 5th Freedom to NYC is less than zero. The opportunity is for flights to Asia-Pacific and Australia, no reason for them to enter the highly competitive market with established players of TLV-NYC (especially when they already have a 5th Freedom FRA-JFK).

Oh, so FRA - JFK is more worthwhile than TLV - JFK?! (Speaking theoretically obviously)

I don't think that is true as they frequently have sales of $2k rt FRA-JFK or reverse while tlv-nyc doesn't generally drop under $3k and its usually a minimum of $3,600

FRA is a much shorter flight than TLV to New York. Regular prices are not so low for J on the other carriers.

5th freedom flights are cheaper almost always. So the price of $3,000-3,600 is only without 5th freedom competition on JFK-TLV.

Problem is J to/from TLV this winter is about $4k

Cross-posting here, with hopes (though realistically I think it's more fake news) that this might actually be materializing.

Walla News reporting that SQ is exploring a route to TLV, quoting unnamed sources that SQ is exploring a contract for hotel accommodations in TLV for its crews.

https://travel.walla.co.il/item/3202798

Unbelievable how self consumed Israeli media is with itself, with one outlet just quoting the fake news of another without giving it a bit of thought or checking things out.

I just booked FRA - JFK in F class for 76k miles...There was nothing available from TLV - FRA but if something opens up does anyone know if i can just call SQ and have them add that leg of the flight to bring the total points to 90k?

Or would i have to book the TLV-FRA separate

Dunno the answer to your question, but if allowed, it would be 95k not 90k.

So it seems I was able to waitlist for a flight without any points in my account at all. The agent from SQ cared more about me getting my passport than the points in the account. In the end I didn’t need either and got an email confirmation right away that I was waitlisted and he told me there was only 1 person ahead of me.

Btw, there's no flight from TLV that connects with the SQ flight from FRA, unless you do an overnight in FRA

Youd have to leave at 3 am or earlier for that to work.
