Question. I am trying to book an SQ award for the first time and am thinking maybe this is a terrible idea. I booked a pre-devaluation AA award on CX to Bali for early next year (looking to travel late Feb or early March). I wanted to get back on SQ (in J for 2ppl), and am seeing that there is basically a zero chance of getting a saver J ticket DPS-SIN-FRA-JFK even on the days the schedule opens. I know I can waitlist immediately and...wait, but is this a terrible plan? Am I going to be stranded in Bali (not the worst thing) without a return ticket? Any advice on how to lock in a return ticket prior to departure or advice on SQ waitlisting in general?
I'm sure flights on ANA or UA have availability. Also try alt routing to the US with the last domestic leg operated by UA.

This is excellent advice as I see some open Saver flights through IAH and SFO. I need to call to add a leg to JFK?

I booked a similar routing and ended up ending my return in SFO and just paying for the last leg (mine was to Denver) because I didn't want to add a United flight and lose the 15% discount.  Might want to consider that as well.  Maybe end your trip in SFO or IAH and the get a cheap United flight home separately and they'll check your bags through.

If I open a new Krisflyer account and transfer Amex points to miles..and want to redeem those miles on United domestic USA flights

1) is there any limitation or condition where in I have to fly on singapore airlines first or have account open for certain time to redeem those miles or I can just redeem it as soon as they show up on my Krisflyer account ?
2) is it possible to book one way awards or only return awards are available to book?
3) is there a way i can get the discounted 15% off awards for united flights?

Initiated a transfer of 40k UR to SQ at 9:29pm EDT yesterday, but miles aren't posted yet.
Cause for concern?

You can try to find an agent to do it for you.

Also I've noticed sometimes seats aren't available to krisflyer saver, but are available to partners.
I found that very interesting.

It really depends on the routing, they seem to be much stricter than UA about routing and don't allow backtracking.  You need to call and just ask them.  They let me do one but the city was the normal connection point.  I originally wanted a different stopover city and they wouldn't allow it, and when I called UA they would have let me.
