FWIU his question is that a ticket originating in Israel has about half the yq of a ticket originating from the states, so he wants to make a ticket originating Israel and then change to originate from the states thinking that they won't reprice it for him. I don't know what will happen but I'm guessing that they recalculate the yq when you make changes so it wouldn't help but the question is interesting.
How would changing Origin AND Destination, with fees and all, be cheaper?

he thought that they wouldn't recalculate YQ in which case in a RT you'd be saving between $3-500 per tickets after paying the $20 change fee

I don't think that's what he was asking. But דן לכף זכות is an amazing middah.

OP, sorry for making fun. This could have actually been a good question if it was worded better.

I meant to ask that I booked a united flight from ny to tlv direct and the way back there are no flights available so I needed to book a star alliance Swiss air via Zurich.however Singapore charged me 170 usd  to book that flight and I was wondering if you can do the workaround for that the same way you do it on united? Because on the united rewards website it's also 170 for that star alliance Swiss flight  but its a combo of taxes and close in fees which you can avoid by booking a later date and flipping it back.thank you

UA doesn't charge YQ for any flight, SQ does for most partners.

I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Trying to book a MUC-ATH biz class award operated by Air China using Singapore miles.
Space shows bookable both on United and on Air Canada, but for some reason Singapore agents cant see the space (even after multiple HUCAs).

is this a known issue? or some sort of temporary glitch in Singapore system?

I've been having this lately with Singapore, that their availability isn't matching up with united and AC. Though I did have luck booking, after many huca's. The final rep seemed to have the exact same availability as united. I guess keep trying.

I've had similar issues with them in the past. The problem more than once was date-related: as I recall it, they were looking either for both legs of a connecting itinerary on the same day, when in fact the day changed in middle. Another time they were just plain looking at the wrong day (I think it was like a 12:30 am flight and they were checking the previous day). I don't know if that could be your issue here but that was my experience.

Thanks, but unlikely that 3 different reps make the same date mistake.
