Tickets to Israel - Could really use your help Everyone
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:22:12 PM »
Hi Everyone

Could you please help me out.

I have the following points/miles that i have been told "Dan - thanks :-)" can be used for at least one ticket to Israel possibly 2.  Can anyone map it out, i am breaking my teeth with website.

I have the following:

17.5 -Southwest Points (i earlier this month transferred from SPG but transfer did not come in-time)

15,500 SPG points

28,000 Chase Sapphire Points

55,000 AMEX Points

Please note, i believe that i would qualify for a couple more credit cards with miles points, however, i am looking to purchase a new home soon and do not want to hit my score.  Currently the score is B'H in a good place.

Thanks

Avi

75k CO will get you to Israel.

That will be the simplest way.  Continental is a transfer partner with Chase Sapphire and AMEX.  No fuel surcharge on any partners.

ANA charges 60,000 miles RT and is a transfer partner with Starwood and AMEX.  And no fuel surcharge when traveling on Continental and USAir.

If you're up for a challenge some people have been able to get Flying Blue promo awards to Israel for 25,000 miles RT.  There is a fuel surcharge.  They're transfer partners with Starwood and AMEX.

From the sound of the OP I assume he might need a little more clarification.

Both Chase Saphire and Amex transfer to Continental. You have a little more than the required 75K for a round trip to Israel (based on availability).

I was looking at Flying Blue at 50,000K with $400+ taxes, but i am not sure it is a good deal?
Can you go with them for 25,000?  it might be worth that.

If i convert my Amex and Sapphire points i have enough for 1 ticket but can i do anything with my Southwest and SPG?

BTW thanks for the help :-)

They have promo awards for 25,000.  But only departing from specific cities and only if you book within 2 months or less from the flight, and only if you get a rep to override the system to allow TLV to go through.
It's a complicated process, but it's been done before.

There's nothing you can really do with the Southwest.  Maybe you can sell the ticket to someone who needs a last minute domestic flight for a nice chunk of change.

If you earn 4,500 more SPG you'll have 20,000, which will convert to 25,000 miles.

How about this for a Plan

Not directly.
If you can find someone that wants BA or CO miles (via your sapphire) that is willing to trade for SPG or AMEX then you would be able to get ANA miles via a trade.
