I will be driving to canada for yom tov from new york at 6 pm and would like to stop over in a hotel along the way and rest overnight daven shacris with a miniyan and head out.. does anyone know where i can or where i should stop ?

I think Seattle has some nice hotels on the way to Vancouver.
(And I think Steve2 is having a bad influence on me!)

anyway arih what everyone is saying is ' if you dont tell us where in Canada you are heading how can anyone answer you properly. Off the top of my head from NYC you can be heading to Montreal, or Toronto or Windsor (outside Detroit) that all have Shomer Shabbos communities that I know of and for each youd drive a different way thusly be sleeping in a different city. (could be Windsor and Toronton can be done the same way. although for Toronto I think the I-81 up thru Watertown then hanging a left is faster then going via Buffalo but no minyan

Has anyone ever taken the Amtrak Adirondack Train from NY to Montreal? I hear the ride is spectaculer... Is the ride too shleppy.. Please give ur tips and opinions, thanks!

Never taken it myself, but I know that have.

Its a scenic ride but it takes forever and you cant get one overnight... If you have a full day to kill its nice, otherwise fly (with lan points

) or take hamans bus

the train is well well worth the ride i have done it many times heymans sucks i spent 3 yrs in canada and all ways took amtrak it was great smooth comfortable and they even have outlets to plug stuff in i totally recommend it

Price is more or less the same.

I understand why no one would want to go on heimans... Thats why I mentioned LAN miles!

Again, if you have a whole day to waste (from 9am to 9pm). You should try the train!

Well actually right now they are having a sale on Amtrak Adirondack. OW is $50, and RT is $90, Heimans is $65 OW and $115 RT.

They Leave from NY Penn Station on 34th Street, and go all over NY.

That is the closest stop to CH. You take the 3 from Kingston, to 34th Street in NYC. (about 35 min.)

there's a car service that goes from ny to mtl i think its 150$ rt although they pick u up and drop u off wherever u need to go..pretty convenient.

It's more like a van service.I know someone who uses it often so if anyone is interested pm me.
(of course there may be a car service as well,but I assume this is what you mean)

So if i take Amtrak, I was wondering firstly if i would be arriving in 34th Street Penn Station, where would amtrak be? and secondly is there an amount of time i need to come b4 the departure time (8:15) or can i come at the departure time?

If you have the actual ticket then you dont have to be there early. But if you buy online, I think you still have to go to a counter in the station to get your ticket.

Also, you dont want to be 30 seconds late... you'll miss the train and there is only one per day!
