The Portuguese high speed trains (Alfa Pendular) serve meals. According to https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/how-to-travel/alfa-pendular , there is a kosher option: "You can also have a diet menu (low salt, diabetic or gluten-free) and special meals (children, vegatarian, hindu, halal and kosher) if you book at least 48 hours before the train starts its journey, contacting the CP Customer Care Line - 707 210 220."

Has anybody had any experience with this? Is this a sealed kosher meal (airline-style) or is it simply referring to kosher-style ingredients prepared in a non-kosher kitchen?

To answer my own question: I asked CP (the rail company), and the answer is Stogel.

I've never had Stogel, although I'm aware of its reputation. Is it worth giving it a shot or should I not even bother? There's a (fairly modest) charge for meals, but given how hard it is to get kosher food in Portugal, I might give it a try out of desperation.

They were kind enough to provide two photos.

Recently went to Lisbon for a few days...

As for the Kosher food...there are no restaurants. We brought our own frozen meals from the US and had the hotel heat up. From what I was told there is an apartment that can be rented from a couple and meals can be ordered through them. I do not know the price, or availability. On their website (https://www.kosherinlisbon.com/) they say that you can order to wherever you are staying as well.

4hr stopover? Is that enough time? Perhaps if your plane touches down earlier than scheduled, and your next flight
is within the EU. It would be about a half an hour with the metro to get to the old city (take the red line to the end,
and then transfer to the blue line till the last stop) and you can go explore the Praca do Comercio square.

No Kosher food places in Lisbon. You may be able to order from Chabad house to-go meals. A full day is enough for Lisbon and another full day for Porto. Maybe a little more for Porto if you want to go to the vineyards.
