I missed the efiling deadline for 2016. I was waiting for various paperwork that finally came. What's the risk if paper filing? Owed a refund.

The risk is that it will get lost in the mail. Nothing to worry about, as you can just send it again if they haven't received it after a couple of months.

A tax professional can. I don't know if DIY software can do that.
