It’ll be rejected unless it amended.

Sometimes r corrects itself, but you can call and at least get an explanation per the phone.

Also sign up for irs.gov and you can download an account transcript and see everything.

Maybe the estimated payment wasn’t applied correctly
Thank you very much! I'll log in online and call if necessary.

When did you pay this estimated payment? After the deadline?

April 3rd. It shows up on the online account as a 2018 tax payment, and it shows the full amount of the refund claimed by the 2018 tax return. On "where is my refund", it shows the amount without the estimated tax payment, and that is what I actually received. So should I hope that they fix it themselves and send the additional payment, or call?

It’s not an estimated payment then. It’s a regular payment. It’s always simpler to pay MS in the last estimated payment slot to avoid issues like this. Give them a call

Ok. Thank you. I guess I had/have no idea what the difference is...

They would be willing to help me?

The difference is I don’t think there’s a space on your tax return for payments between Jan 16 and April 15. You’ll have a credit on your account in a few weeks. I’d call in case it doesn’t resolve itself. But wait u til the credit is visible online.

Where would that credit show up? And what happens with that credit? It automatically gets sent over to my bank? I did file for that refund, and it shows the full amount filed for in my account and it shows the payment.

Thanks!

Create an IRS account and check your balance online.
2017-$0
2018- Your information is not available at this time. If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete.

So I guess this means I should wait until it says -$xxxx? And then I need to call to request a refund? Or it happens automatically?

It seems to me that if one did not file an extension, the deadline to file a 2015 tax return and be eligible for a refund will be April 18, 2019, which is three years after the due date of April 18, 2016. When I Googled looking for this information, I came across several reputable websites that said today is the deadline, but I believe they are incorrect.

Does anyone know a fax number where you send a w2c to the social security services for then to manually update?
We have a w2c which was only partially updates properly.. so I need to update the IRS and the Social security separately..

It now shows $0 owed for 2018. Does that mean I'll get the $**** refunded automatically or do I have to call?

What are the consequences of filing at 12:01 EST. FWIW Federal owed me, but I owed NY and NJ.

I've found that they typically will allow up to 1AM

I filed a 1040x for 2016 as i made a mistake in what i wrote about HSA contributions. I am due a refund.  I got the check today but the IRS deducted interest. Is that normal? I overpaid and then i get penalized? I understand if i owe money then there is a penalty, but wtf is this penalty?
Hell, they can keep the interest on the 2 years of overpayment! but deducting from it?

IMO the burden of such reporting is on the entity that the closing costs are paid on behalf of
Probably, but these thing are usually about who gave cash to who.

99% of the time 1099 are missed, and the attorneys get away with it. What else is new...

This is so bizarre, I would call the IRS and ask about it.

Update: I called today, (hold time was only 15 minutes) and they were super helpful. The reason the refund for the additional payment was held up, because I put my name first when I made the payment and on the tax return my DW's name was first.  ::)

They released the refund and I should get a check within a couple of weeks.
