It seems they lowered it.
Also u only get the referral credit if they take a ride.  Not just sign up.

If u go to the payments page,  there should be an option to uncheck using the credit

From what I've heard, it seems that the rate of actually sharing a car with uberPOOL has been well under 50%. I would imagine that as ther service becomes more widely known and adopted, that would go up though.
I think I got ripped off with uberPOOL. The driver picked up somebody else at the airport with me, then deviated from the highway through some Brooklyn neighborhoods for a while to drop off the other passenger, then returned to the same highway and proceeded to take me to my destination. I think I was charged the normal rate for the entire ride, including the detour to the other passenger's destination, less the uberPOOL percentage. It would have been cheaper to have not selected uberPOOL. Beware.

Did you report it to them? They have very good customer service.

Be aware.  My mother accidently ordered a car.  When she realized she canceled. They charged her  $10.
She called to complain, when they wouldn't refund she told them, ok i want a $10 Credit  for a driver canceling on me.  They ended up giving it to her

Someone used my referral so I got a free ride. Anyway to choose when to use it? I don't want to use it on a short Uber ride but am not sure if there is a way to choose when to use it.

Still havent really been able to figure out if this is possible or not.

In general,  it seems like they constantly have surge pricing. Someone signs up with your link but it doesn't get credited...
I'm pretty much over with them.
Though i must say I've had some pretty good drivers.  Very respectful and courteous

Unchecking the box works for the old type of credits, but not for the free ride credits. If you have a free ride credit it will be applied whether you want it to be or not.

That is what I have. So there is no way to not use the "free ride" on the first ride after receiving it?

Create a new account and use it for paid rides.

Do those need to be only applied when wanting to use them?

I just went and put it in under promotions. It showed up and then disappeared. Now I don't see it anywhere. Did I now loose it?
