Do those need to be only applied when wanting to use them?

I just went and put it in under promotions. It showed up and then disappeared. Now I don't see it anywhere. Did I now loose it?

My promotion eventually disappeared as well. I emailed Uber and their response was

"Happy to help. The promotion code you asked about is only applicable for trips taken in Canada and is only valid for a certain set of customers.

Each promotion has different terms and applicable vehicle options.You can always login to your account at https://uber.com to see the details of promotions, and they will also be displayed when you apply the code to your account in the app.

Unfortunately this promo won't apply to any trips you've taken or might take in the future due to it's validity outlined above. If I can help with anything else please let me know."

So I asked further- what if I do take rides in Canada
