Why would I get banned?
I thought I heard Uber bans you if you dispute a charge.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

That would be ridiculous. Haven't heard anything from them. I actually told them that I would be disputing the charge when they didn't want to issue a partial refund.

Just tried requesting an Uber for the first time since I disputed the charge and guess what? Got the same message that you did. Except when I emailed support, they said that they won't remove it until I pay the amount that I disputed.  >:( Not giving in. Told them I'm going to change to Lyft.

You are shooting yourself in the foot. So the fare estimate was off. Did they go around in circles to get to where they were going, or did they go directly there? The fare estimate is not a quote that they need to honor. I'm not sure why you are going crazy. They provided a service, and now you need to pay for it.

You can also use Uber Pool and get a guaranteed flat rate.

Normally I'd agree with you. However, what happened here is they quoted me $25-35, and ended up getting billed $63, $44 of which was just based on miles travelled. I don't think I'm being unreasonable for complaining that the fair quote was off when if they would have at least just calculated the estimate using the distance, the fair estimate would have been $44 at a minimum.

Is it worth not using uber anymore though? I understand telling them you are not giving in, but at the end of the day if they are unwilling to refund you it may be worth it to just pay the balance

But, see, once I threatened to start using Lyft instead, I got an email back saying that they're waiving the balance and reactivating my account.

Yup! Didn't think they'd be stupid enough to lose someone over a nominal amount.

They quoted $25-$35 when the trip was 44 miles at min? You 100% sure it recognized the locations correctly? Can you post the quote here out of curiosity?

$44 worth of miles (miles multiplied by per mile rate). Yup, 100% sure. Don't have a screenshot of quote.

When you requote the same route does it now give you the correct estimate?

Just tried it now and it gave me an estimate closer to what I was charged. But when I got the estimate right before I took the Uber, it was 2am and no traffic.

Why would threatening to use Lyft work? Lyft won't give you a quote to start with.

Eh, you'll be back to Uber eventually. They have a better service and they are consistently cheaper for pool, I only use Lyft when they run promos now.
