There are promotions and credits, depending on when you signed up what the offer was, if you did $20+kaleb a while ago you would have seen $20 credit plus $20 promotion, separate offers, but now when you sign up/refer it's a $30 promotion (they seem to have gotten rid of credit offers,for good reason, but I'm hoping for a return)
ETA: you would be best off logging in on regular uber.com to see what you have under payments, all should be there

meaning, used to be with every referral money would just keep adding up as credits to be used as money,you could potentially have $300 (or more

) to use however you'd like, now it's just building up $30 rides that cant be combined...

Although I could not receive Uber's texts to my GV number, I sent an e-mail to Uber and they manually verified the number. I can use the app to request rides even though I can't get any of the texts they send such as notification as the Uber car pulls up. In the words of the rep who replied to my e-mail:

It seems that you are correct. The information I just posted was what happened 11 months ago, but now it looks like GV can send and receive to and from Uber's short number.
