IME if they dont like what you're doing they shut you down...they will not go back and charge for a past ride, once you rode free you will not get charged

Why would one not make new accounts every drive

Than you get 2 free ride from each new account..?

You would also need a new mobile phone number.

No need for a new number or even Google Voice (if you have already used it) just create new account with random number and when you receive the email from uber (requesting you to confirm your email address) respond to that email that for "some reason" you didn't receive a text and then they will email you back that they are manually confirming your number then just log in to your "new" account on the app and ride for free (up to $30 there and back!!!

I've tried a few times not always does it work sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't I think the key to make it work is by clearing the apps data and cache

They're not stupid. You do it 2,3,4,5 times - it flies under the radar, but if you're serious about it they'll stop you.

The bad part about companies getting out of their "introduction" phase. Talking to a few drivers these last few weeks, they don't think the other companies have much life left in them in NYC. Once the competition is gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see Uber prices go up, too.

Actually, the competition is what's keeping them from lowering the fares. As soon as the drivers don't have another alternative they will push them down even more.
