Is that how it works? What if I go 2 days without eating?
thats not the point. He wasn't thinking the whole time about when he could eat rather concentrating more on davening and actually having more time of Yom Kippur than most people (tosfos Yom hakippurim)

I don't think Yom Kippur is automatically over by Tzeis I think until your Mavdil or daven Marriv it's not over.
It is, once a person (man or women i.e whether they'll be davening maariv or not) says Boruch Hamavdil they may drink.
The rabbi  in my shul announced this before neilah.
To eat they would need Havdalah possibly for a lady whom finds it very difficult (nursing/pregnant) I'm sure u can find a rabbi who says they can eat as well.

Interestingly, the Shulchan Aruch does mention such a Minhag, due to Sfeika D'Yoma.

I read an article that when 2 day yom tov was established (even once we knew what day it's supposed to be) they considered doing a 2 day yom kippur but nixed it since it would be too hard to fast 2 days.

If we pick a day for Y"K is then why is there a safek for Sukkos anyway?

And did they keep 2 days Y"K?
Assuming they picked 1 date for Y"K, why did they have a safek for Sukkos?

Do some research, but I believe when the mir was in Shanghai there were some people who kept both days, most did one.

There have always been people who accepted upon themselves what the rabbis would not decree for the Hamon am

I bought Psicha Kol Nidrei+holding the first torah for 20xchai, levi shachais for my father for 8xchai, shishi shacharis for my zayde for 10xchai, and levi mincha for myself for 9xchai :)

I just found out some new DDF trivia. @Dan is a Levite.

I believe it's a straight halacha...
Eta: i checked the Dirshu M"B hilchos yom kippur... where the M"B talks about Havdalah he brings the sdai chemed who quotes the minchas pittim who says it's assur and the sdai chemed is docheh his proof. He then brings a whole slew of "contemporary" poskim (r'sz, R elyashiv..) who seem to all agree that with boruch hamavdil it would be muttar to drink (some even without) then ends off with the C' HaG"riz Yuma that leaves with a tzruch iyun if it would be muttar, I looked up there and although he does leave off like that it seemed he is noteh ltzad heter.

Conclusion: seems like its only a daas yaachid who assurs
If u have some other source/ contemporary pose who assurs please post..
