That wasn't written sarcastically.
I have lost weight drinking diet soda (and dieting and exercising)
Must have been the dieting and exercising then...

Thanks for the tips. For me it would be pretty easy. I eat tons of junk food. Just have to start cutting some of that out.

I don't think anyone thinks that just drinking diet soda some will make you lose weight. The question is: is it good as part of the larger picture. I always thought the answer was yes. A simple Google search apparently shows this is not the case. As such I will curtail my drinking of it.
Does this mean when you have a coffee you are better off using sugar rather than sweetener?

I believe that sugar VS aspartame, aspartame is still the way to go. Though for 1 coffee a day i would still go with a little sugar, a little sugar wont make you gain much but aspartame can hold you back of loosing.

Personally, I was dieting and didn't lose much (car = no exercise) then my nutrition told me that he had a lot of people that diet coke didn't let them lose their weight, (i used to drink 2-3 cans a day) so i stopped the diet coke and I am down 30 lbs.

Aparstame is known for inhibiting weight loss.
I don't know about Splenda or Truvia.

Depends on the sweetener.

There are also people who have a bacteria in there intestines that convert certain sugar substitutes back into sugar.

Xylitol is supposedly better. It's still a sugar but has 1/3 of the calories that reg sugar has

I'm surprised that exercise hasn't been stressed more in this thread. For younger people, with exercise alone without a major diet you can lose tons of weight. It worked for me. My metabolism completely changed once I started working out, and I did not even need to be so careful about what I was eating. I lost over 50 lb. Of course, you cannot just stuff you face with whatever you want, but as long as you eat like a sane person, putting a limit on junk food, the exercise itself will work wonders.
Plus, exercising makes you feel so much more energetic. It's worth it just for that, even if you're skinny. Plus, it's good for your heart and long term health.
Personally, I do muscle-strengthening weight lifting together with cardio. Not body-building stuff, just working out muscles to keep them strong and healthy.
Good luck!

It doesn't work for everybody. I myself was doing 1 hour a night of gym for over a month and I hadn't losr a pound until I started dieting.

So this is what he said, exercise without dieting won't help.
