CVS having problems today activating VRs
« on: December 18, 2013, 06:48:58 PM »
I just bought two VRs at a CVS (in Florida.) I went to upload and got an error message. I called the 800 number and the system said that the cards with those PIN codes were activated improperly.

I finally got through to a rep who told me, "Man, CVS has been having problems all day long!" In the end, they took my name, address, and phone and gave me a "ticket number." Now I have to send in pictures of the receipt and the front and back of the card.

Anybody else have any experiences like this?

Nope.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Nope.

Thanks, Count. Anything to be suspicious of? I kind of don't love giving them my name, number, email, etc. plus the purchase receipt. But then again, it's not like I have anything to hide unless I don't want them to see that I bought a cherry Coke along with my two VRs.

I give them my DL every day so I am not the one to ask.  :)

So nobody else had problems yesterday with VRs at CVS not being activated properly?

Be aware that there are VR scans going around. There are people that scratch off the back, write down the pin, scratch off the pin, and cover it with a new scratch off. They keep checking the pin, waiting for it to be activated and they unload them into their account.

Probably nothing to do with your story, but once we're discussing, I may as well bring it up.

I picked up 4 pieces at an NJ location, and 1 of them returned an error. So they refunded the $$, and I took a different card. Don't know if it's related though.

AFAIK these have only showed up in Atlanta. Do you know of others?

If they keep the cards behind the counter, there should be nothing to worry about

Could have been only in Atlanta until now, but since the news broke I would expect copycats all over.

Except in NYC ;)

The situation is now resolved. It's funny, they never sent me a confirmation of my email but I called them on the phone and they had received the photos I sent them of the receipt and the cards. The activated the PINs for me and I had them load to my BB over the phone.
