Car Rental Car seats

Going on a 6 day vacation with a 20 month old and 3 year old, is there any alternative to paying $12 a day each kid for the car seat at the car rental place? I book my enitre trip with miles, and they don't allow me to pay this with miles..is there alternatives?

Hertz give free car seats for AAA members, with AAA corporate code.

Don't knw if they ask u to show them AAA card at the counter

But if you're an AAA member it should be to difficult to show them a card. 
Unless of course, you're not. In which case...

not to start a safety discussion but if a car seat was involved in an accident it's not really supposed to be used anymore.
I've always taken car seats on the plane and allowed them to gatecheck it if not needed on the plane

I know its a shlep, but I've always just checked in our car seats. United usually has bags. AA never had a bag, but we have out own, it's free to check on if not all then most airlines, and you have the peace of mind that it's up to your safety standards.
