They can use nanotech fibre, spidersilk etc, or "one click" replace every 100 uses (just like they do with headrests etc)

They can also used engineered hyper nylon etc, can last forever if done right.

Wont happen as Dan said.. If it does expect a lot of fights, and I will definitely NOT want to be the middle person.

I can only imagine the fights that will ensue when the last passenger in a row comes only to see he has 10 inches of space.
Maybe if the mechanism was locked and everything had to be prearranged prior to the flight?
