UPS Rates 2014

What can you say UPS thinks with every new calendar year they have to raise the rates by 5% and that can really hurt small businesses, any body have any ideas how to deal with this? Did anybody switch from UPS to FedEx and were happy? Are the FedEx rates any lower?
