Continental OnePass - 2 times?
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:56:34 PM »
I got a Continental OnePass Mastercard World with the 30,000 bonus miles for myself and my wife. Now my wife got an additional offer for the same card, same bonuses. Can she apply for a second account for the same exact card and get double the mileage? Anyone ever do that?

Sure.  The safest way to do it would be to create a new onepass account and apply with that new number and then merge the accounts later.  But you usually will get the miles again even if you don't do that.
As always YMMV, and use this link when applying to help support this site!

@Dan:
Maybe I am not understanding, but are you suggesting that a person can possibly take advantage of this offer twice in a short timeframe?

I also got another offer once I had the card. Does creating new One Pass account get you around the Chase 6 month limitation?

Hey Dan, when you apply for the same card several times in a year, do you spend any money on them after you get the signup bonus?  I can't imagine how I would manage having several cards and using them all.  As it is now I have maybe 6 different credit cards from 4 banks, but only use one or two in any given month.

If you don't use them after getting the bonus (for example the continental onepass card gives the bonus after first purchase), have they ever been suspicious of how many accounts you open and close with hardly any usage?

They've never been suspicious for lack of activity, at least not on the cards I have.

I posed this question earlier, but would appreciate your thoughts. Are you suggesting that a person can take advantage of this offer twice in a short timeframe?  I applied and received the OnePass card a few days ago. Is there a possibility I could get this same card/offer again if I applied again next week?

No, at the minimum you'd have to wait 30 days.

And then what do you do when they tell you that you used the promo code already?

If you plan on closing the card anyway go ahead and close it first.

You might want to keep it open as a bargaining chip.  I applied for the CO card and was denied due to too many inquiries etc.  I called them up and asked if they could allocate some of my other Chase credit lines and they said if I agreed to close one of my other cards they would recommend that it be approved.

Did you have that experience with any other card?  Usually if they deny credit because of too many inquiries then they won't listen to a word you say. it's a dead issue

They once called my husband and asked him if he wanted to do it so they could approve him, so I figured it was worth a try to call and ask.
