In general if money is received to purchase a specific item, (for example a newly wed couple receives money for appliances) no Maaser is given

I would say ask a LOR but perhaps it counts as a discount towards the price you paid for the ticket

I know it doesn't mater the amount but if its only a smallish amount it wont hurt to give it to charity anyway.

Oh I usually do and always have. But I also never really thought about it.  Just got a check recently and it just occurred to me.
