DD/DDF App - Ideas. requests?

Hi everyone!

Anyone here have any requests for specific stuff on a DDF/DD app? I have a friend who can make one, what does it need to have? I posted here but I think it should be its own thread.

I am thinking about twitter alerts with a filter/ratings of how hot/sizzling, forum reading and posting, etc. What features should it have?

I never used it, I don't have a smart-phone. It is my friend who is a programmer. Does it allow you to get alerts from the twitter stream based on your preferences? I have in mind when there are sizzling deals or if you just want to see posts about flights or EY etc.

I seem to remember a discussion about an app that was already created without Dan's permission. I can't recall where though.

That is so odd - I was just thinking this today!!

I think before an app though, these forums need a major overhaul. Perhaps something closer to StackExchange. There are actually a number of well made imitators that can be purchased for not that much.

Found the app, it's by tensegrity (?) and does not work, it says account suspended when you try to run it. Says 500+ installs.

Any features that are must have?

Dan, JJ, AsherO, BAHayman, Elikay, Cbs, anyone? What do you guys say about making an app?

I think the forum on a PC is not missing any important  features, although it is a little dated looking . An iOS and android app designed specifically for DDF, if done correctly, is something that would make money; at least I would pay for it. A user should be able to select topics on which to receive notifications. I currently use the tapatalk app and it leaves lots to be desired. As for the main site deals, Twitter does the job for me!

I also think the current DDF is great, ppl are used to it.

Re. twitter, I am thinking that some things should stick out more than the rest, besides with just having "sizzling" in the title. Maybe the app can alert you when it is important enough for you. Maybe posts can be given a rating in addition to their tags.

I just realized, if/when Dan pipes in or is interested, he doesn't need any polls because he has the analytics data.

Sounds great! Which is better, the smf smart search or google?
