Dan's warning to DDF:
I hope people realize that any buying group or anyone else that gets merchandise in advance of payment can go south at any time. That's even if you get a check at the time of delivery.
X-posting as I don't want anyone to say that I never put a warning here.

A story that ended up in court - https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/DocumentList?docketId=iRcRHuyZUdOIx69D00a5XQ==&display=all&courtType=Kings%20County%20Supreme%20Court&resultsPageNum=1

I am one of the biggest buyers for buying groups, I have done millions in transactions and have sent to every group there is over the past 3 years. Most buying groups are okay, some scan in slower than others, some pay slower than others - most will lose a few packages over the year. You can research and find which are better for you.

However there is a bigger problem now with Amazon itself.  Amazon in the past has been great with any problems always ready with a refund for lost packages even if it was thousands of dollars. Lately Amazon has clamped down and has tagged these buying groups addresses  in their systems as "freight forwarder" and now no longer will fix any problem you have whatsoever. Doesn't matter what the problem is, even if it shows the package was never delivered, amazon will not help you in any way. Their copy and paste response will always be "this item was sent to a freight forwarder and we're unable to replace or refund the item. We recommend contacting your freight forwarder for more details, as we don't have any more insight or information regarding this matter, For more information about sending items via freight forwarders, please visit our Help Pages: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201117950." As well the amazon drivers either must know this or have been increasingly bad at delivering packages because the numbers of packages missing has gone up astronomically. Previously you would have very few packages missing, now the past 3 months I have had 59 "lost" packages. I now have over $15,000 of loses and some guy in Delaware is probably living the life with all the stuff he stole from me. I will survive, I have made a lot more than $15,000 over the years however just a warning to others here that things are not as they used to be and it really is no longer worth doing buring groups with all the loses piling up

Getting off topic here but yeah we all have challenges. My older brother is a very respected Rav and my father always says / said that I have higher potential. But I'm just not a saint.

Did I waste my life in that aspect? I'm not sure.. thought I heard stories of various Jewish leaders who overcame many challenges etc..

I'd actually understand and respect a  Jewish leader who comes clean and said "chatasi" the evil inclination got the better of me and I sinned.

Him I would I respect.

The greater the man, the greater the evil inclination works.

The story of Yehuda and Tamar is a constant reminder and from them came David.

And let's not be foolish, Ruth and Boaz was hardly your chareidi coupling.. even I wouldn't sleep with some random woman by my bed!

But side issue is where these rabbi's treated underage molestation as just a taiva.

Anyways, so far off topic.

The more I'm hearing, the more I'm starting to agree with your view. My trust level in my fellow Chareidy brethren has plummeted to near 0. Add the recent London Dayan story, whom 2 of his kids are great friends of mine, and I can't even trust Rabbi's.
This is the danger of how you overinvested in what great people they supposedly were.

It touches on the problem we have nowadays in how we teach kids about gedolim, we build up these people into what basically amounts to malachim. I get why we have the gedolim stories the way we do but you have to be cognizant of what comes along with that.

Here's not the place, correct. Just take this for example if you think it's so simple what happened you're wrong.

Thanks for the link.

It's too bad this wasn't a panel discussion. I certainly could have helped clarify some of the mileage situations and assumptions discussed in the final hour that may have changed the answers given by the Rabonim.

Clearly he wanted to argue about selling points with me, but it wasn't an argument I wanted to enter, nor was it one that I had to enter as I've never advocated selling points.

Yup I only listened to your segment. Half of it was cc awareness stuff (which was good) but he definitely was more focused on the selling of points and price mistakes.

I could feel the heat on you during that part :)

I thought you did a good job. I don't know why he felt the need to spin this about the flights. Totally irrelevant. He's also a bit of an interrupting cow. Really trying to push his agenda.

He sometimes fill ins, and he has a team working on it.
He obviously enjoys it, and it's worth the time. Can't you hear the joy in his voice when he says we had our 2 millionth download..
And honestly for a private interview with you, I can see why he make the time;).

Fantastic job!

It's officially a halacha based podcast his spin will always be in that direction. That's definitely why he wanted to talk about selling points. To someone who's not involved, the travel and cash back isn't at all what comes to mind, rather "isn't the whole point to sell the points?"...

Pretty good defending the whole price mistake debate, it's somewhat nuanced and not clear cut. It sounded like he wanted simple straight forward guidelines with reasoning.

In regards to a panel, almost every week it's an issue, depending who he speaks to in what order, he'll bring up arguments that someone made and allow the later person to comment without ever getting a response from the original person..

Was there any part that he edited?
