I recently flew with my United points domestically on US airways, and I had to pay for a checked bag with my MPE card. I called up to get it refunded twice. 1 CSR said its only on United flights, and the 2nd CSR said I should go to united.com/refunds and claim it to get the money back.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Just flew last week round trip with my wife and we were both charged both ways even though we are both primaries. I filled out a refund claim online and was refunded two days later

Put your UA FFN that's attached to your MPE card in the reservation and you should be good.

The system has gotten smarter and there have been reports that you do need to pay with the card.

Ya, I used my FFN when I applied for the card so it should be linked and the reservation indicates nothing about a free bag.

Not surprised. But if ur traveling on miles is it enough to pay the fees with the card? If you've paid is it possible to have them reverse the charge and use a different card? (the UMPE)?

Does it have to be on the original purchase?  I bought my entire family tickets on my ink card to meet threshold bonus. Stupidly forgetting that now I have to pay baggage fees.. I was going to upgrade m seat with my chase xplorer card hoping that would reissue my ticket showing 0 baggage fees. I called United and rep says it is discretion of airport. Which recently has been not in m favor.
