a Hotel stay and credit the the pts to UA and not the hotels program,

rent a car for 1 day and credit the miles to UA,

are you a  part on the Dining Program buy a soda or coffee to go from a restaurant that [articipates,

if you a Plat with SPG cash in 2 SPG pts for 1 UA mile

buy something off their Shopping Mall OnLine partners even say Staples and pick it up at a near by Staples store

My UA miles expired last month ( and forgot to book award travel and cancel...).

I found someone that had an unused car rental and traded with him for another item. It is supposed to reinstate my expired miles.

Do you actually have to ticket the award travel?  How do you cancel without paying a redeposit fee?

Many airlines let you redeposit an award within 24 hours for free (I know CO, DL and UA do for example).  That will likely count as activity.  You can always check if it extended the expiration.

How can you check? Ask them too many questions and they will catch you.

It usually has the expiration date in the My account details.

United Airlines Miles Q's
« Reply #11 on: January 22, 2011, 01:47:43 PM »
My UA miles are set to expire in March. Other than CC's, how can I add some miles or post some activity to the account so they don't expire?

Thanks!

This question has been asked many times. You can usually shop at their Mileage Plus store and buy something for a dollar which will credit to the account.

I wouldn't rely on that.  More often than not they don't post at all.
Buying a magazine/newspaper subscription on the other hand for a few hundred miles is much safer.  Companies seem to forget to charge you far less often than they forget to give you something ;)

Of course you can always just make a redemption and redeposit for free within 24 hours...

Any method (besides payment) of reinstating United miles that expired on 12/1? Or if I try calling anything in particular I can say?

Nifty idea. Do you or anyone know if I can credit a car rental booking that was under a different name?
