Alaska may be a better choice, as they have great partners including AA & DL (which both include priority and baggage benefits when flying them after achieving AS status), BA, Cathay, Korean, Quantas, and others. All partners accrue Alaska elite miles as well.

Many in the FF community are speculating that the DL partnership's days are numbered, as DL is aggressively expanding into AS' Seattle hub. Of course, that would probably lead to an even stronger partnership with AA, or perhaps even a merger.

Either way, Alaska miles are far more valuable than SkyPesos.

Dan, it may be helpful to recommend on the main site for people to credit their Delta flights to Alaska, I'm sure many don't realize this option exists.

Is it possible to get the free baggage from the Amex Delta Gold card, and still credit miles to Alaska?

Anyone think its worthwhile collecting on Delta to get status and if needed spending the 25k requirement on a delta amex to avoid the spending requirement for flight travel?

Can Delta miles be transferred once they are in your account?

Also, is there a difference between skypesos and skymiles?

No. Skymiles are referred to by some as skypesos due to their low value.

The free luggage only depends on which credit card you book the flight with.
The frequent flier number (where you credit the miles to) is activated online.
Basically regardless of how you paid. They have nothing to do with each other.

I currently have 3 RT delta tickets booked. How do I credit them to Alaska or Flying Blue? Dan, where do you think I should transfer to.

Noob question: If crediting to Alaska (or other airlines), does each person have to credit to their own account, or can mileage can be combined into one FF account?

so what's the truth?
Its YMMV, sometimes you can get the free bags just by flagging your Amex to the guy standing by the counter.

The safest way would be to credit to Delta, and you can change the FF # after you check in your luggage.

Generally, each FF number must match the passengers name.

Guys, be aware some Delta classes only earn 25 % partner miles.

So  how do you actually go about crediting these miles to partners?
