Car rental - in minor accident
« on: January 07, 2014, 02:18:02 PM »
So I rented a car from ez rent a car. They didn't have a compact and put me in a minivan.
I got in a minor accident which left scratches on the door. I was turning into a parking lot and grazed the sign going in.

What is my best course of action?  I put the rental on my chase sapphire preferred visa signature

I also have an American Express blue card.

Should I just have the scratches buffed out?

If you do make sure it's a good job, spray paint will not work on a scratch that's deep. I got caught doing it :-\ but I got out of it ;).

Apparently the card covers it completely. Since I don't have collision coverage on my insurance plan. Amazing.

you'll need to pay with the cc that you originally gave, in this case your SP.
I've dealt with visa car rental insurance in the past, they were very easy to deal with.

+1 on both points.

Also make sure they cover minivans.

They are now saying that since the cost to rove the scratches will be over 500, by California law, they have to put it on my driving record?!?
