In cases such as these the police, schools, etc become mandated reporters and Child Protective Services (under whatever name the Massachusetts agency uses) openes a case. The child will generally be returned to the parents during the investigation if it is found there is 'no imminent danger' in the parental home. This child will be monitored for a period of time. Home studies will be done, the child will generally be sent for medical and psychological checkups.
The parents are generally not free to discuss what is an ongoing CPS case with the public or the media.
You may want to know, but you have no right to know. We as a public find out what went on and is going on through our agents, the professional social service workers employed by the government. To put it bluntly, Adena Cohen-Bearak-MYOB. If and only if we didn't have a CPS system in place would a public appeal for information as you make be appropriate. If and only if there are criminal charges brought against adults connected with this case do you as an individual have a right to know.
