Good try at competing with AirPort but they still need a lot of improvements and features to do so. Not worth the price at all IMO.

Never actually used the AirPort, what kind of great features does it have that other routers don't? (not saying that the OnHub has anything no-one has)

I don't know any router that has features that no other routers don't. You essentially are able to do back ups and share printers on almost every router as long as your provider doesn't block these features and you know how to configure it. The time capsule for example streamlines all of this and you can understand it's convenience if you are in the Apple ecosystem. It is extremely reliable and although Google advertises faster speeds, we won't know which is best until it is tested.

You're kinda contradicting your previous statement. Besides, the $199 AirPort Extreme (comparable price to the OnHub) doesn't do what the Time Capsule does, you can buy 2TB hard drives for less than $100 (and have the backup portable as opposed it being part of your router)

Yes you can, but isn't the whole point of the new router to be easy to use?
What I'm saying is that I don't see anything revolutionary and that I would never spend $200 on it.

Just a couple of things that the OnHub has which the AirPort Extreme doesn't
  • App compatible with Android and iOs
  • USB 3.0 support
  • Weighs less
  • 802.15.4
  • Has 13 high-performance Wi-Fi antennas
  • Can be used a BT Speaker

I've never considered memory backup to be a plus for a router's ease of use, I'm not sure if I would even use it. As I said before, I like my backups to be portable, and a router is anything but that.

What I'm saying is that I don't see anything revolutionary and that I would never spend $200 on it.
Nobody mentioned anything about revolutionary :)

FYI, I don't care for either one, and I'll probably stay with my current ~$99 TP-Link Archer C7 till it stops working. But I really hate the argument that everything Google does is supposed to be directly competing with Apple, and if it doesn't then it's a failure.

Nice idea, but T-Mobile's free router works just fine for me.
