Akdamos on Shavuos morning.
Is this why the problem is less in Chabad? :P

FTR The Rebbe used to say Akdamus quietly between Aliyos.

I didn't tell anyone to start saying... (after all, I don't need the Achrayus on my shoulders of all the boys who would go OTD because of that :P )

No, not even on Shabbos. And no mishebeirachs in between aliyas either. They are not necessary. And even for cholim, send in the name to the gabai before shabbos.
BTW by the Rebbe in 770 they would make a separate Mi Sheberach for every single Choleh/lah (and you can imagine there were maaany Cholim/los being mentioned)...

Since you're going there... someone asked the Rebbe why he davened (relatively) quickly from the amud (chutzpah, I know, but the answer is amazing.) The Rebbe said tircha d'tzibura. This same person then asked, "Then why do you farbreng so long?" The Rebbe answered (to the effect) you can leave the farbrengen when you want. My mokor for this story is from Mandelbaum, so yeah, Achas, you can jump all over me, but the guy has an incredible memory. I think it's a fascinating glimpse into sensitivity. You don't hold people against their will. At a voluntary event is a different matter, but at a minyan, you try to be sensitive.

Wowow why the attacking tone? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the minyan finishing quickly so I can start Davening ;)

BTW, I was searching for the words these past few days to explain why a slow minyan bugs me if I haven't davened with a minyan on shabbos in years. You just nailed it.

There's nothing more annoying than when you're learning a Maamor and when the Chazzan gets to Kedusha, instead of it being a one minute break you end up listening to his rendition of Mimkomcha TTTO Shamil (and just when you get to the end of the tune you realize the Chazzan is only up to Tishkon and the whole minyan goes back to the beginning...)

You just described my purgatory! I have seen men who have managed to work no less than four different nigunim into a keduash/keser.

Oh the pain... :'(

How about on YK, at the end of each stanza of Al Chet, the chazan says the last two lines out loud and then everyone all sings together the words: "Slach lanu; mchal lanu; kaper lanu." If a chazan then REPEATS those words again on his own after we all just sang them together, I feel as if this person has no respect for other human beings.

Yom Kippur I'm at least Davening with the minyan (and I'm trying not to get angry at random Jews)...
