It's pretty funny the probably #1 reason for youths going otd isn't listed here, and it's not abuse as a kid ftr.
Hint?
I just found a new supply of forks!

Every frum guy I know hates washing and getting fleishig.

It's ironic when you think about how much kashrus actually regulates what and how we eat...

It does, but it's only ironic because of today's spoiled standards.

I don't drink coffee so meat doesn't scare me! Neither do mornings on fast days.

I can't remember the last time i had milchig for supper and i usually have fleishig for lunch and quite often for breakfast. I prefer my coffee the way G-d intended, black and dark roasted.
I make a cholent for a thursday night learning program in a community that is mostly baalei teshuvah and it always seems crazy to me how many people would rather skip an awesome (if i may say so myself) cholent for the possibility of cereal and milk at 10PM!  :o :o

I heard it from someone I know who is a Talmud of R' Reuven and has a haskama on his sefer in halacha from him
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

ftfy.

If this would be a serious discussion, it wouldn't be in JS. Besides, the topic isn't why people do go OTD, rather why they should.

Benching takes at least five minutes if you say every word. Since many people don't know it fully by heart, it requires obtaining a bencher (or smartphone app). Then, depending on how religious you are, it requires Mayim Achronim and donning a hat and jacket.
Probably already mentioned, but please don't lump these together.

So then not in any of R' Moshe's seforim? Just mepi hashmua?
that does give it less weight even though it has a great source.

If R' Moshe chose not to publicize a psak perhaps it was beacause he felt that one should be noheg like the more standardized halacha which is to wash even clean hands because of kabbalah reasons

I didn't learn all his seforim also his only seforim on halacha IINM are the igros Moshe which he answered questions but if no one sent a letter to ask it won't be there

What do you mean by that? Which one is the less important one?

Birkas Hamazon is D'oraisa. It's equal to (or some would argue greater than) davening Shacharis. If you are makpid to wear a hat during davening, you should most certainly be makpid to wear it during Benching.

R' Moshe didn't hold one thing and tell everyone to do something else it makes no sense

There's a specific inyan to wear a hat during davening because tfilah is is compared to standing in front of a king - which is not the case with bentcing. See M"B

It has nothing to do with being d'oraisa or not.
