Do you have a source for this?

I need a source? You need a source.
You said something out of your stomach making a kal v'chomer and coming to a conclusion.

What is sure is that tefilah - be it more or less chomur than benthing - has a special din of being in a state like you would act in front of a king, something that is clearly not the case with bentching.
That's why you don't need to stand, close your eyes, or put your feet & and hands in certain way when you bentch.

Look in the siddur, dude. Or does that get in the way of the exaggerated contortions and gesticulations?

The quote below is taken from here: http://www.shemayisrael.com/parsha/halacha/Volume%206%20Issue%2012.pdf

Bentching is Comparable to Shemonei Esrei. When one bentches he should be in the same mind set as when he davens shemonei esrei. Many poskim say that one cannot answer amen or other devarim sh’bekedusha during bentching. One may not make finger motions during bentching. These rules do not
apply after the fourth beracha of hatov v’hameitiv. Others say that one should avoid any hefsek until after he has finished bentching if possible. The Chazzon Ish zt”l was of the opinion that one may answer to kedusha and borchu in middle of a beracha, and amen is permitted in between berochos. However, the custom follows the stringent opinion. When someone is bentching, his neighbor should be careful not to disturb him. Therefore, one should avoid conversing with another while someone else is bentching
close by. One should be properly dressed while reciting bentching. Wearing a bathrobe is
unacceptable. Some say that it is proper to wear a hat and jacket. The Kitzur Shulchan Aruch says that doing so brings one to fear of Hashem and will increase concentration during bentching. The Chazzon Ish zt”l only wore a big yarmulke and did not wear a hat for bentching. The Stiepler zt”l only wore a hat without a jacket.

There's a specific inyan to wear a hat during davening because tfilah is is compared to standing in front of a king - which is not the case with bentcing. See M"B

It has nothing to do with being d'oraisa or not.
That's why every time I go to meet a king I make sure to take my hat along. If it's really hot I leave my jacket at home, but my hat? that $%!& stays on my head, I ain't gonna show myself to no king without it!

How cute are you
not.

Chazal set guidelines as was the standard back in their times.

If we have to customize the guidelines based on our standards is a totally different discussion and is something Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise has already discussed in length.

Whatever it is, it's not something you're supposed to do when bentching.

That's not how it looks like in sh"u. None of the special halachos mentioned in hilchos tefilah are in hilchos birchas hamuzon.

I believe this is based on the halacha that bentching requires a "kesser"
If you don't care why would you comment?

I can't remember the last time i had milchig for supper and i usually have fleishig for lunch and quite often for breakfast. I prefer my coffee the way G-d intended, black and dark roasted.
I make a cholent for a thursday night learning program in a community that is mostly baalei teshuvah and it always seems crazy to me how many people would rather skip an awesome (if i may say so myself) cholent for the possibility of cereal and milk at 10PM!  :o :o
