Seminary Girls Trip
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:28:42 AM »
Am I nuts to be concerned that my daughter and friends want to stop off in Switzerland on the way back to NY from EY for Pesach?  Noneo of them have been there, or anywhere in Europe, and have no contacts or friends there?

Not nuts for being concerned. Thats called being a parent. That being said, I would say that as far as letting her go, I would say give her some freedom. She is a big girl.

I had a great time when I went there on my way back from Israel.
Seemed like a really safe city to me

Country, same difference. I traveled to Israel via Zurich so my mind associated it with Zurich. Whole country is very safe and clean.

I've also driven through Switzerland on a separate trip.

Switzerland is a whole lot safer than Israel.

I went traveling there as a sem girl... Switzerland is easy to navigate, ppl are friendly, and there is almost no anti semitism felt there (as supposed to my experience in France...) I don't think you have to be more concerned than the usual parent whose child isn't sleeping at home

The question is why u concerned....

If its about safety and she's a responsible girl with good friends then I don't see why not.

If she's not responsible or she has bad friends I would def not let but come up with an excuse. Or explain to her how you don't trust her friends.

When I was a bachur I did rome myself for 12 hrs knowing my mom she was prob saying tehilim the whole time until I called (and we didn't have easy access to phones as per today) but she saw my itin and as nervous as she was she let me do it. (I also made my own tickets. :).

If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.
