I picked her up in my car and took her to a fancy golf course. They cleared the 18th hole (par 3 over water beautifully landscaped hole) for us and I played the hole. It was lunchtime in spring and there were people eating outdoors at the clubhouse that overlooks the hole.

When we went down to the green to putt to finish up the hole, I hid the ring in the hole while she wasn't looking. Then we putted to finish up and, when I bent down to get the ball out of the hole, I pulled out the ring instead and asked her to marry me. The people by the clubhouse were cheering and clapping

In the meantime I had a limo and flowers waiting in the parking lot. (I had someone pick up my car; I left the keys with the proshop)

The best part: I had an artsy photographer hiding in the trees the whole time. great pictures!

The dating process was in order (in part) to see if you could have fun. Now you know if you like each other. When you "propose," it's not time for shtick and gimmicks, especially shtick that is expressly meant to mimic the surrounding culture. An engagement is the foundation for the most holy and important job you will ever have in your whole life. It should be done in a spirit of kedusha v'taharah.

Freddie Friedman is that you?

Yes, dating is 99% for the nefesh habehamis.
Whether or not your values are compatible should have been sorted out early on, or even before you met. Going out is to get to see if you like each other, or better yet, in order to get you to like each other.
an I the only one who read the weird "get" twice?

These two are CLASSIC!

Pull up in a 15 passenger van and ask her if she'll help you fill it up.

Do you want it to say Goldberg on your matzeiva?

Lol
Actually was thinking that a few days ago when he had me laughing in another thread that was about shaving. It seemed like his style writing.
Now I hardly even doubt it ;D :D

Doubt he has time for DDF though, with his 2500 girls and 1900 boys in his database and almost 6000 unread emails and texts and 2000 missed calls!!

This is exactly the dumb shtick proposals that should never be done. Same goes with the classic "get pulled over by a cop"

Anyway, by me the question was far from answered when I asked it :D

Her family was on vacation in Alaska.  She had spent a few days with me and my family in the summer, missing the beginning of her family's vacation.  We knew the engagement would happen over the next month or so, so we had picked out the ring she liked.  She left after shabbos and then joined her family in Alaska after spending shabbos with us.  I had the jeweler work feverishly to have the ring 3 days later on Wednesday, and flew up on Thurs to surprise her in Anchorage.

I had arranged with her parents beforehand that Thurs afternoon, on the return drive from Denali, they'd stop at the Anchorage Marriott (one of the tallest hotels in the city) to "go to the observation deck to look out at the city."  I was able to get in touch with the General Manager of the hotel and was able to set everything up on the observation deck.  I brought a bottle of wine, though the hotel had a bottle of kosher wine on-hand as well from a previous kosher event there!  Surprised her once the whole family came out of the elevator and walked outside.  Had the ring with me :).  Spent shabbos with her family in Anchorage and then returned Motzei shabbos.

Good times!
