They don't know enough about it to respect it.

Unless you have a 5 minute discussion about it explaining gender separation in our community and  that you do respect women etc. (which I have discussed with people who ask for further info or people I work with every day).

It's an especially difficult conversation being that I'm a dentist. "How can you be my dentist if you can't even touch me???"

friend of mine once told me he could supervise swimming because "bmlachto tarid". So I asked him if he found in practice that it was true. He pretended not to understand the question.

I've gotten more tactful. Just a bit.

r' berkowitz has a teshuva about this. if he was truly doing his job it would be allowed, (ie i asked if there were kids at the pool and there really is a sakana possible). but as rabbi berkowitz nicely put it, he highly doubts there doing there job....
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

So if the lifeguard is wearing a ring and she's immoral then maybe it's "Liba Gas Bo".
I was trying to combine all the conversations under the sun this topic ;D

Rings were worn by Jewish men in tanach and the Talmud.

Though not as a sign of ownership by their wives like it is by today's "men"...
+1 That's the issue. Rings the yemenite men wore in Yemen were for beauty, not ownership.

Exactly. What does that have to do with being a lifeguard

It's an especially difficult conversation being that I'm a dentist. "How can you be my dentist if you can't even touch me???"

You have a good point, but my dentist/doctor does not shake my hand at all, and he's a man.
