And as for the MO discussion,  don't you know anyone who keeps less then you isn't religious and those who keep more are fanatics?

since you won't let go of this issue. Imho the crux and essence of the MO hashkafa is lack of pride in yidishkeit (not Israel). This is why they are continuously modernizing yidishkeit to be up to par with the prevailing culture. Always looking over their shoulder to check what the goyim are doing, what will they say, what do they think..
Take feminism for example. I can rant for hours but people take my opinions to seriously ....
It's amazing how little you understand about the MO community and yet talk about it like you are an authority on the matter
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

No sense in lowering to his level and calling him names. Let's stick to the conceptual arguments and skip the personal stuff, please.

Enough with the personal bickering and attacks folks.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It's nice to see Jews feeling so passionately about something like this. Levi Yitzchak Barditchever would be proud. One half of the thread is people who would be moser nefesh not to shake, the other half is people for whom the most terrible insult you could ever say to them is that they are ashamed of halacha. Mi k'amcha Yisroel? Hashem has nachas from his keender, I am sure.

I always felt this forum was a friendlier place and for the most part it is. When it comes to certain subjects you guys/gals make FWF/FT look like childs play.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Very very true.
Could it not be that kol isha not live and not a vulgar song (won't come to hirhurim) like a classical or country song is not really a problem?

A friend of mine was by R' Ovadia ZT"L and he had some Arab lady music that he used to always listen to. He asked him about it, and R' Ovadia gave him his trademark slap!

R' Moshe says if you don't know the woman it's mutar. Now what knowing means YMMV ::)

But even not knowing who it is, if it's a bad song it's asur.
Don't listen to non Jewish music, but I was in a pool hall and some 15yr old at risk kid turned on the most nauseous song I ever heard.... sounded like porn for the ears.... :-\

Won't call it sheltered, just never listened or took interest in non Jewish music.
But you can call it what you want... ;D
