Hi. What is the best credit card to use to get Primary Insurance on a Rental?
I have MB Platinum, Business Platinum, Starwood, Citi TY, Lufthansa, Chase Freedom, and Sapphire WMC

Being that you don't have the United card then add the premium car rental insurance to one of your amex cards, it's about $25 per rental and gives great coverage.

But why the new thread?

If I used a very free day coupon and only charged the additional fees and taxes to my umpe card will I still get the coverage? Rental insurance was declined

CMIIR but the amex gives a higher amount of coverage and covers medical and theft. Also a pleasure to deal with

AFAIK the United is Primary while the Amex is Secondary.
So United seems better. Am I missing something here? Does Amex cover anything better or should I not even consider it and just stick to the United card?
Everyone I know (not on DDF) swears by using Amex for rentals, are they wrong?

IMO (although i never tried it) if anything were to happen to the vehicle, you can always say you dont have the coupon or keep it for an xtra hour and then you'll be charged for part of the rental and not only taxes and fees.
