things on the way to fl?

im driving down to florida with some friends and we r looking for some nice things to do/see on the way from n.y. to fl [or a little out of the way] any ideas?

that's not on the way to Florida, that's in Florida!

There's Washington DC.

Hilton Head, SC is supposed to be a great vacation spot. I'm not sure if there's actually anything to do there. I've heard the beaches are supposed to be nice.

Then there's South of the Border, which is basically a massive souvenir shop just south of the NC - SC Border.

I think that's pretty much it.

I was assuming that you were going to Miami. Its still a few hours from miami.

If that's the case...

There's St. Augustine - the oldest city in the US. It's a nice place to check out. (and if you're really, really bored there's also the world golf hall of fame there)

Daytona has the Daytona Itl. Speedway and a NASCAR museum (if that's you type of thing). There's also the Main St. Pier which is supposed to be pretty cool.

Oh, and I think Orlando might have an attraction or two...
