The teacher is dumb for telling the students about the dean's decision. The dean is dumb for still employing the teacher.
The teacher felt the question needed to be answered by his boss. He got an answer form him and ignored it. That is grounds for dismissal. Period. End of story.

Sorry, but if the student don't want to interact with females he should have taken the course online.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I believe it was an online course with a required in person project (if you didn't live too far from the university)

Once again skimming through comes back to bite me.
I guess that makes things more interesting.  Never heard of an online course meeting in person.

Student should've just changed his address temporarily rather than say he doesn't like cooties :P

Let's be realistic here. There were about a million and one ways for this situation to be resolved without any fanfare. The professor wanted to make a thing out of it, so he did. They state clearly at the beginning of the article that the professor is the one that initiated with the paper.

Western Kentucky University has an online speech therapy masters program for which you need to come in for around 6 weeks to do an internship before graduating. I'm sure there are other programs which have a similar requirement.

And what a paper.. "In a 12-page paper documenting the episode"
