Kashering a chocolate plant is very difficult according to those who don't allow Kashering with cocoa butter.

I like cocoa butter. It's chocolatey and buttery.

Maybe they ought to be meikil here considering that the chshash is that a chocolate chip is still on the belt, rather than the taam.

Wow, very cool, but I'm in CLE ya know :)
What are the best cholov yisroel flavors?

I think I had Cookie Dough and Chunky Monkey in the past, both were great.

Dan, i hope im wrong, but there are very few ben and jerrys israeli flavors that are cholov yisroel by belz , many flavors including chunky monkey and cookie dough are imported from america and are slapped on with stickers in hebrew that say ou-d in small letter "l'ochlei chalav nochri"
As far as i know the only CY flavors are Vanilla, Chocolate, Dulce De'leche, Strawberry, Coffee, and Cookies and Cream. I will check again next time im in the makolet, and for dans sake i hope im wrong...

I'm not a moron.

While most markets had flavors like chunky money from the US about 1 in 10 had the C"Y version.  Then again this was 5 years ago.

As quite a fan myself, I was just stating something i thought was a fact, and I'm actually quite excited about this news (at least its news to me). When I signed up for the forums I knew I'd learn new things about credit cards and air travel, But i wasnt expecting to learn anything about my favorite ice cream, Thanks Dan I'll be keeping my eyes out for them.

No kashering necessary as there is no issue with the chocolate productions. It's a packaging problem. Obviously the logistics still don't make it worthwhile or else they would do it.

I've heard that Restaurant Depot carries good parve chips.
Just haven't gone there myself as it'll be a long time before we make it through all of our cases :D

If it were that poshut then the OU would still be writing OU-DE.
Chabad for one doesn't eat DE. Prob the same by other chassidim I'd imagine.
I wrote that it is close enough to Pareve for ME, as i along with the majority of litvaks eat dairy equipment (just not with fleishigs)

i call ou and ask them if there is any actual dairy in the product or not (no guesswork)
either way i don't think it's "milchig" as there are no dairy products in it

+1
Correct - There is no kashering between runs necessary,
It's just a 1-2 day per year mashgiach to certify that all the dairy chips are out of the vicinity for the packaging process of the pareve chips.
Because for allergen reasons they cannot guarantee that one single dairy chip will never enter into the packaging, the Ok said that it needs to be marked dairy.

How expensive can a one-day Mashgiach be that it's not worth for a sale of another 1,000 cases?
The cases we bought had an expiration date 18 months out --
I was told that TJ's did not see enough of a drop off in sales, so they are not investing in the Ok pareve certification.
..wish they would..  (about Rest. Depot, taste powdery, not as creamy)
will run out of TJ's stock soon -
Anyone have inside information into the OK that can make a change?

if you are defining good chocolate chips as those  with real chocolate, many brands in israel fit the bill

Dan,
So far I found;
Chunky Monkey
Cinnamon Buns
Dolce De Leche
Cookies and Cream
Double Chocolate (I think)
and some sort of coffee flavor.

I agree. This and that falafel place. All we're missing is (some good) customer service.

Whenever something is OU-D, I check the allergy warning. If it doesn't say milk, I assume it's really OU-DE. The OU itself says not to rely on that so ask your LOR. I would have to imagine that the allergy warning is actually more strict than halacha in regards to the presence of milk.
Non dairy creamer as an example.
It has an ou-d, doesn't list milk as an allergen (I think lactose intolerant people can actually have it)
But I called the ou and they said its not de, and if I'm makpid on C"Y I shouldn't use it.
IIRC they said you would have to wait 6 hours after meat...
