What the hell does this have to do with anything?

This has absolutely zero to do with the ticket glitch, if that's what your trying to point out. This was a quarterly report, probably until Dec 31. The glitch happened on the 26th, but had little if any impact on the financials of that quarter. The greater impact will be on the first and second quarter of this year, when they would "lose" money because of lost revenue from being able to sell those seats for more. But I don't buy that. They will increase and gain because all of these cheap ticket travelers will pay for: baggage fees, in-flight purchases including drinks and meals, economy comfort, upgrades, etc. (of course some of this will not apply to Business class tickets). That's besides for all the publicity they got, etc.
We'll see

Superbowl ad = $4 mil for 30 seconds. How much do you think this cost? And this got a lot more PR. Plus by honoring it they showed integrity - something a Superbowl ad would barely accomplish

Total gain in terms of marketing.

They will gain more in the long run as a result of honoring tickets purchased during the glitch. Tons of people I've met who don't know the difference between the different airlines now think of Delta as a good, cheap and reiable airline and will always use them blindly etc. Next year prfits may dip but it should bounce back by mid year.

100% agree, plus if you credited youre delta miles to delta, many people have like 7000-10,000 delta miles, they may fly more, open a delta amex card etc..

My argument on coach flights is they deff broke even, filling seats that may have been empty and passengers that may have paid to check bags
