Hard to believe they would shut down accounts for that.
Now if they suspect that you are selling miles, that is a different story.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I cant confirm the reasons or causes but I can confirm (through the "grapevine" of course  8) ) that Aeroplan has been shutting down a lot of accounts lately.

I know one person that had a couple of accounts blocked, which were under different names.
Interesting to note that all his bookings were made via aeroplan.com, and none over the phone.

I believe* with bookings over the internet they store the data differently then ones done over the phone, and because of that it might be easier to run queries on online bookings with the results of above.

* I have bases for that, but eyn kaan mokoym leha'arich.

Of course, because with online bookings that can see that someone logged in to 3 different accounts from the same IP address within 5 minutes, and they can do some research and figure out that the guy is a mile broker. Bottom line is the airlines are getting tougher and this whole business might be done in a few years.

LAN is tough requiring the mileage holder to send in a copy of his passport and a signed document every time you want to book for someone with a different name. I'm sure in the future airlines will require such a thing with a sworn affadavit that you are not selling/bartering/trading/anything-else-they-can-think-of the miles..

Isn't the "I agree" button that you hit when opening an account, just that?

Airlines know miles are being sold, but they make sure it does not get out of hand. We play the game, they do.
If an airline really wants to stop it they can.
No issuing tickets on other names
No transfer from partner programms that the names dont match
