Topic Wiki

All the information below seems to be dead. SW recently updated their site to include a new page after the checkin page and the scripts don't seem to get past that.
Luckily, AJK found a new option that seems to be better than anything available before - you don't even need to leave your computer running for it to work!
UPDATE: This new option doesn't seem to be working either

Update: The userscripts website seems to be down. In case the links below don't work, try the links in parenthesis.)

Instructions:

1. Install the script. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/45170 (http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/45170)

2. Go to the Southwest check in page and another box with date and time input field will appear under the standard check in fields.

3. Fill in your confirmation number and name as usual in the first box.

4. In the second box, fill in the date and time that is exactly 24 hours before your flight.

(I usually offset it by a second to allow for any inconsistencies between your computer's clock and the Southwest server clock.)

5. Leave the page open, print out your boarding pass once it checks you in and enjoy your early boarding position.  :)

6. Each passenger needs a separate browser or an incognito window. (Multiple Incognito windows/tabs of the same browser will not count as separate).

This is better kept on the hush hush as Southwest is known to hunt down and shut down these kinds of tricks.

If the above does not work for you, try this:
- Go to this script http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/151875. (http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/151875)
- Under the green Install button on the right, click "How do I use this?".
- Find the section on Chrome and under "Using Tampermonkey" click the link "Chrome's Webstore". This will download Tampermonkey for you.
- Go back to the userscript URL and now click the green Install button. It will install it through Tampermonkey and, at least for me, there was nothing else to do.
- Check out SW's checkin page http://www.southwest.com/flight/retrieveCheckinDoc.html?forceNewSession=yes and it should show the date/time to checkin.

Looks like the new SW site may have messed this up.

SW enabled SSL for the check-in process. See the 4 URLs that the script acts on? Add https:// versions of those four.

Currently waiting to checkin to a mock booking, I'll let you know how it goes.

ETA: It worked. That was easy.

Thanks.

You just went into the code and added "s" to each line?

Procedure may vary depending on whether you use GreaseMonkey or TamperMonkey. On TM I went to the Editor/Settings tab and added the 4 URLs under "User Includes". Editing the code itself would probably work also.

I thought people were reporting A16.

I think the best you can get nowadays is A45. The last time I checked in on a flight it was 23:59:57 before the flight and I got A47. Maybe they want to reserve extra seats for paying priority check ins?

The only reserved numbers are A1-15 for Business. The rest is automatically assigned in the following order

1. A List Preferred
2. A List
3. People who paid for auto check-in
4. Manual checkins from T-24

If anyone cancels their ticket from 1, 2, or 3, the next person checking in may get lucky and be assigned that number.

Maybe officially, but I can say from my personal experience two years ago I would almost always get A30 or better. YTD the best I got for myself or anyone else I checked in by far was the A47 and I usually am checked in within two minutes of it opening up.

Read up a few posts. You have to play with TamperMonkey a bit.

I can't figure out how to make this work.
What do I need to edit with TM?

Go to the Southwest page in TM and there are 2 tabs "Editor" and "Settings". Under the Editor tab, you want to copy each of the urls found on lines 5-8 (one by one) and add them to the Settings tab in the bottom left box. Click "Add" under that box and add each url BUT add an "s" after "http". Do that for all 4 urls. Will probably have to restart Chrome after and possibly restart your computer. Should look like this when done.

Looks like the userscripts.org website is down. I found via Google that userscripts-mirror.org works just fine, so I updated the wiki to include working links.

Never flew southwest before, so not familiar with how it works.
I did auto check in and got b-47 and b-48,but traveling with an infant (lap).
Will we get priority?
Thanks
