or here (it was easier for me to just answer the question than to find the correct thread for him)

Cant find exactly what Im looking for there. I need a cashback card with no annual fees and no signing up for different things every quarter. Its for someone who simply wants a card to use. Not spending a ton on it either.

But only on travel purchases. yes it's possible to get cash back, but I don't think he's interested in doing that or has enough spend to make it worthwhile or the yearly fee. The fee free card offers only 1% on most purchases.

doesn't sound like he's interested in any specific percent. Sounds like he wants a no fee card for spending and as a side perk, to have cb without having to do anything extra (like click on an email once every 4 months to activate 5 percent)

BofA has a 1 2 3 cb card. No need to activate quarterly and no annual fee.

its for an elderly person. They arent going to signup for a new category every 4 months. Its looks to me like either the blue cash amex or capital one quicksilver are the best.

For BOFA you don't need to sign up each quarter. But Amex BC is probably better. For Cap1 you need excellent credit

Keep in mind the Amex Blue (old) 5% only kicks in AFTER doing $6.5k spend annually, how much spending is his elderly parson gonna do?

Get the amex with fidelity. It offers 1.5% cash back on all purchases and 2% back into a fidelity account.

I have the Capital One Spark card that I use where there is no category spend available. Now with UR being devalued, I'm thinking twice about using my "old" INK bold (which only gives threshold bonuses, and ends at 100K spend). I used to make 1.2 per dollar because of the "exclusives" program, nut now 2% on Spark is much more attractive.
